Hexagonal Summer Table Topper

Where has summer gone?  I feel like we just started summer and am all of a sudden realizing that school starts in just 20 days and I have SO much planning to do!  I haven’t been able to get in very many sewing projects; however, I have some cute things planned for after when school starts for Halloween for my itty bitty niece!

Niece’s 1st Birthday Dress…

Oh my goodness, I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love being an auntie!  Joey and I do not plan on having children of our own and my siblings aren’t married, nor do they have children.  On Joey’s side, his sister, had a baby, Allison.  And she is the cutest little thing I have ever met.  Thankfully she lives in the house next to ours so we are blessed to see her quite often.  I asked my sister-in-law if it would be okay if I made her birthday dress and I can’t even get enough of it!

Baseball Table Runner

Every summer you can usually find me and usually my husband hanging out at the FM RedHawks baseball field!  There’s just something so relaxing watching baseball on a hot summer day!  Well there is a gentleman who I had met working my part time job many years ago and we became pretty close.  Every year he gives us oodles of tickets to the RedHawks games. Now this guy is very well off and never wants anything in return.  Last year I gave home some of our homemade salsa and jelly.  This year I made him a baseball themed table runner.  As a bachelor, I really hope he likes it!

I found the fabric and pattern at this really cute fabric store in Devils Lake, ND this past September.

I didn’t realize how wide this was going to turn out until I started piecing it together and thought it looked odd.  With some minor tweaking I made it to more my liking/size.  I used the invisible thread again as well as the basting spray when layering, just love it!  I hope Mike does too!!

Quoteable Pillows

Joey asked me recently as I was down stairs putting my latest project together, “Harm, haven’t you made enough pillows?”  I looked at him bewildered and said, “Ha, you can never have enough pillows!”  It’s still freezing in No. Dak. lately and there isn’t anything we can do outside yet.  We can’t mow the lawn, can’t plant, can’t weed, can’t play in the sun…we are limited to the indoors still.  So of course, I keep not only a clean house, but have to do something while hanging around so my go-to is always cross-stitching.

Math and Pillows!

While taking a trip to the local fabric store in Valley City, I found this adorable math fabric by Moda!  I was thrilled to say the least!!!  Not sure what I wanted to do with it, I decided on the black and white design and purchased one yard.  I sat on the fabric for at least 3 months before I decided to make some pillows I’d use in my office.  I made 2- 14″ square throw pillows that I will use in my office on the chairs my students sit in.

Basic pillow formation here.  It’s an envelope style in the back.  Took about an hour from start to finish.  I have just a little leftover fabric so I may spruce up a couple hand towels for use at home with the leftover fabric.

Just look at this fabric!!!  Completely “needing” out right now!

First Quilt!

My best-friend since elementary school had a birthday coming up in February…the 20th to be exact.  When you’re friends this long it starts to become difficult to find the perfect gift and I personally much prefer homemade gifts.

Tortilla Pizza!

So I was really craving pizza, like BAD, and we only had frozen pizza in our freezer and sometimes…well it tastes like cardboard if you know what I mean!  And living 25 miles away from the closest pizza joint that option was out.  I am sure there is a recipe like this out there somewhere, but hey, it came to me last night that I had a few ingredients already needed for the pizza.

Venison Enchiladas

About once a week I like to try a new recipe and I am so bad about modifying recipes and then NEVER writing down what I did, so this is the first attempt at my modification of a basic enchilada recipe.  My husband and brother had shot 2 deer this past fall and so our freezer is full of deer meat, ground, roasts, steaks, you name it, we have it.  I’ve been craving enchiladas and many recipes use chicken, but I wanted some venison on this cold winter evening in Fargo…uuugggh -30 below wind chills!!
