Beans, Beans, and Peas!

Oh wow!!  Our first harvest from the garden came in this weekend amid many other things we are doing.  We got my sister-in-law moved into her house so now we share backyards!  I got quite a bit of my housework I wanted to complete before the big party this upcoming weekend, the sister-in-laws bridal shower  and even managed to get in about 20 hours of work…ugh..how do I do it!

In any case, we had a LARGE bowl of beans/peas and there would be no way we could get to it them all within a reasonable amount of time, so we decided to blanch and freeze them.

Garden Update!

It has been approximately 2 months since we have planted our garden, almost to the date!  Things have moved and shaked and grown tremendously that I wanted to share some updates.  I was worried for a bit as we had a spell of rain rain rain!!  Now we are in some kind of heat wave where there is NO rain so we are watering and using miracle grow quite often to keep all the deliciousness growing!

Rhubarb…a new love!

Wow, it has been a “few” weeks since I have rambled about my musings.  It seems like it went from winter to summer all in about a day so have been anxiously running around outside completing multiple tasks and although I haven’t done much crafting, my yard its look FABULOUS!!  The longer we live here, the more I am in love with my house.

Pillow Fun!

Since graduating I have realized, I have a lot of time, I mean A LOT of time and most I spend rummaging through other blog websites and google for fun projects.  I have created a stash of leftover fabric remnants from various projects I have completed.  Some small and some large pieces, and I didn’t know what to do with them.

One of my many cousins’, Cami, is moving into a new place and had invited me to her housewarming party; however, I will be unable to attend, but still wanted to do create something nice for her for her new place.   I headed off to the internet in search of some ideas…

Portfolio…

I wish I could make all handmade gifts for Christmas; however, this year does not seem to be in the cards for doing so.  My mother-in-law loves to have a journal where she writes down all kinds of things so I found a free pattern on the Cottage Home website and went to town.  I found the fabric at the local fabric store here in town, Quilted Ceiling, and bought 5 semi-matching fat quarters.  I am usually good at picking out a few pieces of fabric that go together; however, I struggle with making multiple kinds work.  I have tried doing some research on picking matching fabrics, but I seem to fail.  Please let me know what you think.

Make-up is my best friend!

Another week, no school, still on “summer vacation” until my final 3 classes of my graduate degree!!  In the meantime, I found a very cute pattern from Sew4Home to create a make-up brush set organizer.   Now, why did I choose to make a brush-set organizer?  Ever since I was little it has been instilled in me that women just wear make-up.  My mother, an avid Mary Kay wearer and seller has insured a never ending supply of make-up, why not?  There I am every morning dutifully putting on 5 shades of color followed up with liner, mascara, blush and a hint of lip stick.  Although this sounds like a lot, it has also been instilled that there is a right and wrong way of wearing make-up.  It must appear that you aren’t wearing any.
