As my wedding is approaching, I realized that I needed to create gifts for my bridesmaids. I am not one to just go out and buy something random, I like things to come from my heart. After browsing gifts online, I decided that I would take up sewing. I decided to make reusable napkins and a matching table runner. Table runner to follow.
The reusable napkin was difficult for me as a first project. I first had to cut out a 21″ by 21″ square. I then, had to create the seam which would allow me to sew upon so that the ends wouldn’t fray. The particular directions I was using allowed for a 1/4″ seam, but was having difficulty creating so I decided to create a 1″ seam around all edges, then fold inward and press with my iron to create a 1/2″ seam, which worked much better. I made 16 reusable napkins, 8 for each pattern.
The location with which I found the pattern was located at the Sew4Home website which has many free patterns for those who are beginners. https://sew4home.com/
Crafty Gemini below will demonstrate how to create a napking. She uses a napkin size slightly smaller than the pattern I used, but the steps are still the same.
